WELCOME BACK, CHASE PIRATES!

We are so excited to welcome our students back for a new school year! Our staff has been working hard to prepare, and we are ready to see those Pirate faces!

If you received our back-to-school phone message, thank you for taking a few minutes to read the additional information below. The phone call included just the highlights—these reminders will help your family have a smooth start to the school year.

📌 We'll keep this post pinned to the top of our Facebook page throughout the first week of school so it's easy to find whenever you need it.

💙 A SPECIAL WELCOME TO OUR NEW PIRATES! To our sixth-grade students and families—welcome to I’m CHASE Middle School! We know middle school is a big transition, and our teachers, staff, and administrators are excited to help every student feel welcomed, supported, and ready for success.

📣 STAY CONNECTED: Please make sure your contact information is up to date by completing your Annual Update in Infinite Campus. Throughout the year, we'll share important updates through our website, text messages, phone calls, and social media (Facebook - CHASE Middle School, Instagram - @gocmspirates). If you ever have questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out—we're here to help!

🚗 CAR RIDERS: Please do not drop off students before 7:15 a.m. This allows us to ensure appropriate supervision is in place as students arrive.

To help traffic move safely and efficiently, please use the designated entrance for your child's grade level:

  • 6th Grade: Enter from Morrow Motor Road for both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
  • 7th & 8th Grades: Enter from CHASE High Road for both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

Please watch for directions from our staff during arrival and dismissal. We are working hard to keep traffic moving efficiently and minimize backups on both roads. During the first few days, traffic may move more slowly as everyone learns the routines. We appreciate your patience and ask that you follow the directions of our staff to help maintain the safety of our students.

🚌 BUSES: Please allow approximately 15 minutes before or after your child's usual morning pickup time during the first week. Our drivers are learning new routes and getting to know their students, and we appreciate your patience as everyone settles into a routine.

If your child's bus transportation needs change, please notify the school office in writing. We will only honor bus transportation changes submitted in writing unless there is an emergency. This helps us ensure every student gets home safely. If an emergency does arise, please call the main office as early as possible so we can communicate the change with your child.

Riding Home with a Friend: If your child plans to ride the bus home with another student, both families must provide written permission in advance. We require a note from the parent of the student riding the bus and a note from the parent of the student they will be riding with. This helps ensure that both families are aware of and approve the transportation change and allows us to safely verify the request before dismissal.

🎒 BE READY FOR DAY ONE: Students should arrive with their school supplies and a positive attitude as we kick off a great school year! Don't worry if students aren't sure where to go—our staff will be throughout the building to help everyone find classrooms and answer questions.

📱 STUDENT iPADS: CHASE Middle students will be issued school iPads during the first week of school as devices are deployed to students throughout the week.

iPad insurance is $10 per semester or $20 for the full school year. This affordable coverage can help protect against the cost of accidental damage. If you were unable to pay during Open House, students may bring the insurance fee to their homeroom teacher.

🍎 BREAKFAST & LUNCH: Families can view CHASE breakfast and lunch menus through Nutrislice (https://rcsnc.nutrislice.com/menu/chase-middle). Remember that all CHASE Middle students receive free breakfast and lunch each school day.

📱 CELL PHONES: Please remind students to follow our school expectations regarding cell phone use during the school day. Keeping phones put away helps students stay engaged in learning and focused on building relationships. North Carolina law also requires school districts to have policies prohibiting student cell phone use during the instructional day.

💊 MEDICATIONS: If your child needs medication at school, please make sure all required forms and medications are provided to the school nurse in accordance with district procedures.

📚 ATTENDANCE MATTERS: Every school day counts! We look forward to seeing our Pirates at school, on time, and ready to learn. If your child will be absent, please notify the school office and provide any required documentation.

🔒 SAFETY FIRST: For the safety of our students and staff, all visitors must check in through the front office with a valid photo ID.

The first few days of school are always a learning experience for everyone—students, families, teachers, staff, and bus drivers alike. Thank you for your patience and grace as we work together to establish routines and make the start of the school year a success.

If you have questions during the first week, please refer back to this pinned post or contact the school office. We're always happy to help!

If your child is feeling a little nervous, know they're not alone. Our teachers, staff, and administrators will be ready to welcome students, answer questions, and help everyone feel at home from the moment they arrive.

🏴‍☠️ Thank you for trusting us with your children each day. It is a privilege to serve the students and families of CHASE Middle School, and we are committed to making this a year of growth, learning, and success for every Pirate.
