CMS Student and Parent News and Events – January 17th – Jan. 21st
Parents,
With the snow today (Sunday) please note to make sure to bookmark the Rutherford County Schools homepage www.rcsnc.org to keep up-to-date for possible school closures or delays for any day(s) this week. If your number is current in our system and you have not “blocked” the district number you should also receive a call each day there is a delay or cancelation.
Be careful and stay safe!
Note: Tomorrow, Monday, January 17th there is no school for students due to the Martin Luther King Holiday.
Mr. Byrd
Updated RCS Policy 3620 – Extracurricular Activities and Student Organizations
Please note if you have a child playing basketball or a spring sport they must now meet the middle school academic requirements for NC Middle Schools. (must be passing 3 out of 4 of their courses each SEMEMSTER (this will be the combined average of the first three grading periods this school year).
Our district recently updated the athletic section of this policy to align with our two other counties to ensure we all are following the same guidelines. The new revisions are now in the administrative regulations for policy 3620. (RCS Board Policy 3620). You should see these changes updated on the online policy link on our district website soon.
In section C, changes have been made to emphasize that our district will adhere to all middle school athletic eligibility requirements as indicated in the Middle/Junior High School Athletics in North Carolina Public Schools handbook. (see link for more details).
