5th Grading period Report Card & Summer School – June 1st – July 15th

Report cards will be mailed to ALL parents on Monday, April 19th.  If you do not receive your child’s report card by Thursday please contact the school. There is a summer school informational letter from our county office included with  all students report cards.

The NC General Assembly recently passed House Bill 82 and Governor Cooper signed it into law.  This legislation provides funding for a summer school opportunity for students who do not meet the promotion standards (passes 3 out of 4 core classes for the school year).  If your child is currently not meeting promotion standards and you would like them to have the opportunity to attend to work towards possible promotion please make sure to mark your calendar for these dates. Depending on how many core courses your child is failing will determine the length of time they attend summer school.  We will follow up soon with students who will be invited to attend.

Wednesday, Remote for All Students and Other Reminders

Parents, thank you for helping to make a smooth transition to our in-person week.  We just wanted to send some reminders:

-EVERY Wednesday is a remote learning day for ALL students.  All students should have assignments to complete every Wednesday for all courses.

-Wednesday’s also is a REQUIRED Course Recovery attending school day for students who are Full Time Remote and not passing 1 or more core class for the school year.  This is from 8am – 3pm.  Parents must provide transportation to and from school. You can have your remote student log-in to their Canvas account and see if they are passing Math, ELA, Science, or Social Studies for every grading period.  Please contact the school if you have any questions.

-Student pick up reminders – Parents of Afternoon car riders who want to miss the traffic and congestion are encourage to arrive between 3:15-3:20 to be able to miss the long wait.  All car riders must be picked up by 3:30pm each day.

Thanks!

Important Information for students beginning April 12th – Student Schedule Changes

We excited to have over 80% of our students now back to school 4 days a week. With this major change, there have been some changes to student schedules. A small number of students will have a change of schedule with their core teachers (ie: Math, English, Science, and Social Studies). For these students, they should receive a message in Canvas from their core teachers informing them of the change.

The majority of our schedule changes have occurred at the exploratory level. One new exploratory is Academic Enrichment that will function as a course recovery class.

Wednesday will continue to be a remote learning day for all students.  Please note that attendance will not be optional on the assigned days to be at school.  We will now follow regular NC compulsory attendance laws and count tardies for students for the remainder of the school year. We are excited to have our students back!

Breakfast, Lunch, and outside food deliveries:

No charge for student breakfast and lunch.  Upon arrival and completion of required health screening, students will report directly to their first period of the day.  A grab-and-go breakfast opportunity will be given to students on the way to their classrooms. Meals will be eaten in classrooms and not in the cafeteria.  The menu for Tuesday is pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, vegetables, and milk.   We can not accept any food deliveries from outside of the school.  Please make sure to tell any family members who have typically brought or sent food to schools during lunch period.

New Exploratory Class – 6th grading period – Academic Enrichment

One new course during one exploratory period is called “Academic Enrichment”.  Students who are not passing at least 3 out of 4 courses for the school year are enrolled in this course.  Parents please encourage your child to take advantage and do their best during this course.  For some students this may be the opportunity they need to not attend summer school and pass for this year.

WORK DEADLINES for Hybird Students (attend 4 days each week)

Now that hybrid students are attending school 4 days each week these students should be able to submit assignments daily.  Most teachers will have daily assignments to complete or require assignments to be submitted on the last day students attend each week.  Contact individual teachers for their procedures.  Parents please have your student pull up all work assignments in their Canvas account before this Tuesday, March 30th to ensure all work has been submitted.

WORK DEADLINES for Remote all students

Due to some students having limited internet connectivity, remote students will have submission deadlines at 11:59pm each Sunday evening.  New work for the next week will still be available by 4pm on Friday afternoons.
