CMS Student and Parent Announcements – March 29 – April 2nd
We are now in the process of planning schedules and making some minor changes to prepare for students who were hybrid to return to school 4 days each week beginning April 12th. Wednesday will continue to be a remote learning day for all students. Full remote is still an option for students. Please note that attendance will not be optional on the assigned days to be at school. We will now follow regular NC compulsory attendance laws and count tardies for students for the remainder of the school year. We are excited to have our students back soon!
TUESDAY WORK DEADLINE
Parents please have your student pull up all work assignments in their Canvas account before this Tuesday, March 30th to ensure all work has been submitted. With the new grading period beginning April 12th we will need the remainder of the week to finalize grades before spring break. All assignments given for Wednesday through Friday will count towards the last grading period.
CMS NEXT SPORTS SEASON INFORMATION – season begins April 12th
Any student interested in trying out or playing sports must have a current physical form and sports packet completed and on file in the office PRIOR to participating. Contact Mr. Greene for any questions. All students must be passing 5 out of 6 classes to be eligible to play or tryout.

Boys Baseball
Boys interested in playing baseball. Workouts will begin after the football season ends. Baseball tryouts will be April 12th 3-5:30pm. You must have a physical on file and have passed 5/6 classes for the 5th six weeks.

Girls Softball
Girls interested in playing softball need to contact Coach Owens (gym). There will be no workouts this week. Softball tryouts will be April 12th 3-5:00pm.
Wrestling Team Sign Ups
The first practice will be on Monday, April the 12th. If you have any questions please speak to our P.E. teacher Mr. Bridges. They will have workouts after school this week from 3:15-4:30 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week.

Track and Field Workouts
Track & Field official practices will begin on April the 12th and will be held Monday - Thursday from 3:15 to 4:15. Workouts this week will be on Monday and Tuesday this week from 3:15 to 4:15.

Girls Soccer
Girls interested in playing soccer this year, we will start workouts on March 23rd, from 3:10 to 4:30. Days of workouts are: Tuesday and Thursday until Tryouts on April 12th. After tryouts we will practice four days a week. To be eligible to join the team, you must have passed 5 out of 6 classes on your last report card. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to coach Deshommes. (7th grade social studies teacher)

Sports Game attendance increase and updated information
We are excited to now have increased attendance at our outdoor sports events due to Governor Cooper’s executive order. We now can have increase attendance and all football and boys soccer games can have visitors attending for HOME and AWAY games! We also encourage our students to plan to begin staying after school or returning for our home games. Make plans to attend our next home football games this week on Monday and Wednesday at the Chase High School Stadium. Games begin at 5pm. Concessions will be sold and admission will be $5 for adults and students for all middle school conference games.

– Breakfast: strawberry poptarts, string cheese, fruit, milk
-Lunch: Chicken Sandwich, green peas, diced peaches, milk
– track and field workouts – 3:15-4:15pm (must have current physical and sports forms complete)
-Wrestling Workouts – 3:00-4:30pm
– Football HOME vs EAST Middle (all students and parents welcome to attend due to increase capacity rules - $5 admission) – Game will be at Chase HIGH School. – All CMS 8th grade students can have free admission. We will provide transportation for any student needing to get from Chase High to the High school stadium. All other adults and students $5 admission.
– Chase Middle Pirate Council (PTO) -6:30pm

-ALL WORK AND ASSIGNMENTS DUE FOR 5TH SIX WEEKS GRADING PERIOD – 3PM

-Lunch: Cheeseburger, glazed carrots, , diced pears, milk
– End of 5th six week grading period (no late work can be accepted due to spring break and making changes for new grading period)
– CMS 8th grade Hybrid A students visiting Chase High School (REMOTE students can meet us at Chase High at 8:15am)
-Robotics Team Meeting for those interested (Hybrid Group A and any remote only student) -3:00-4:00pm
-Girls Soccer Workouts – 3:00-4:30pm
