CMS Student and Parent Announcements – March 15th – 22nd

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS REMINDER - Make sure you moved your time forward 1 hr for Daylight Savings (Began Sunday 3/14/21)

RCS Middle and High School Face-to-Face Learning Parent Survey - RESPONSE NEEDED BY MARCH 16TH AT 12NOON ONLY IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR CHILD'S CURRENT LEARNING PLATFORM.

Rutherford County Schools is currently operating all middle and high schools under Plan B, and students in grades 6-12 may participate in either the Hybrid Learning Program or the full-time Remote Learning Program. On Thursday, March 11, the North Carolina General Assembly and Governor enacted a new state law allowing, but not requiring, local boards of education to transition middle and high schools to Plan A for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The Rutherford County Board of Education ("Board") will meet soon to review that new legislation and evaluate local middle and high school operations.

In the event that the Board transitions local middle and high schools from Plan B to Plan A, students currently participating in the Hybrid Learning Program will automatically transition to a full-time Face-To-Face Learning Program, and students participating in the full-time Remote Learning Program will remain in the full-time Remote Learning Program.

However, we recognize that some parents may want to CHANGE their child's learning program if the Board transitions local middle and high schools from Plan B to Plan A in the coming days and weeks. Please use this questionnaire to request such a change to your child's learning program. The deadline for submitting this questionnaire is 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

Please note that you DO NOT need to complete this questionnaire UNLESS you want to CHANGE your child's learning program if the Board transitions local middle and high schools from Plan B to Plan A.

iPad Check & LAST CHANCE FOR FREE REPAIRS (March 15-19)

All student iPads will be collected and replaced at the end of this school year. In preparation for the end of the year collection of all iPads and Macbooks, we need to conduct a quick evaluation of all technology equipment prior to the end of the school year in order to get any damaged devices repaired.  If you did not bring your iPad for a check last week, including all remote students, we wanted to give you one last opportunity THIS week.

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK YOU CAN BRING YOUR CHILD’S iPAD, CORD OR CHARGER TO SCHOOL FOR A CHECK AND ALL REPAIRS WILL BE DONE FREE OF CHARGE.  AFTER THIS WEEK ALL DAMAGES WILL REQUIRE PAYMENTS.

In addition, our district is waiving the damage fee for devices during this evaluation period, so it is extremely important that your child bring his or her device to school to be evaluated now.  If you fail to bring your device for evaluation and then return it damaged at the end of the school year, you will be charged the full damage fee at that time.
