First Week Info For Students And Parents

The teachers and staff worked hard last week to design effective teaching and learning remote activities. We will begin the first three weeks of school remotely for ALL students. Our Board of Education will meet on September 1st to determine if we will be beginning the hybrid model of classes where students will be attending classes at school two days each week. Your child has been assigned a hybrid or remote only schedule based on your selection several weeks ago.

iPad Pick Up Schedule

6th and 7th grade iPad pick up will be TOMORROW Monday, August 17th from 10:00am  – 6pm. Those 8th grade students who did not pick up Friday can also come out tomorrow. You will receive a Ziploc bag that includes your child’s iPad, keyboard cover, and charger, student schedule, and some other important documents regarding the 2020-2021 school year. You will also get their student data sheet and health form you will need to pull into a parking space and complete.  Please leave this with our staff after completing it. You will be able to pay your child’s technology fee for the 2020-2021 school year. This fee is $40. We can only accept cash and checks. Sorry for any inconvenience. Be sure to take time when you are home to review all the documents and reach out to your child’s teachers if you have questions. We are here to help.

Note: Students who did NOT return their iPad in from last school year will NOT receive an iPad this year until it is returned and or damage fees are paid in full.

Remote Meals:

Please visit our Chase Middle homepage or Chase Middle Facebook page for information regarding remote meal pick up that will begin on Tuesday this week.  At this time meals will not be delivered to homes.  There will be no meal pick up at Chase Middle. Meal pick up is available at Forest Hunt, Chase High, Ellenboro, Spindale, and RS Central High Schools from 10am – 1pm only on Tuesday and Thursday.  You will receive breakfast and lunch to cover meals between these two pick up days.

Backpack Food Pick Up

Students who normally receive the weekly backpack food to take home will be able to pick this up at Chase High School from 10am-1pm each Thursday during the normal lunch and breakfast pick up at Chase High School.

Student Schedules

Due to the split hybrid days for attending school your child’s schedule has a different look than normal.  Please review and contact us if you have any questions.

Student assignment this week

Students will not have daily assignments this week.  Teachers have designed activities to get to know their students, explain class procedures, and begin introducing their subjects and expectations.  Students need to log in to their Canvas account to access their schedule and assignments that will due by Friday afternoon.  Please review the “Middle School Remote Learning Guidelines” that are included with your child’s iPad and documents.  This is the most important document you need to understand.  It includes information about communication, grading, attendance, zoom meeting schedules, and teacher office hours.  We want to emphasize remote learning will be much different than this past spring.  Students will be expected to attend lessons on time, complete all assignments, and communicate regularly with their teacher.  Grades and credit for classes will be given just as it normally would when students are at school.  This includes all four core classes as well as their two exploratory classes.

Sports Update

We are currently communicating with our other schools in our conference to determine our options and timeline for middle school sports.  We will update you as we receive more information.  We do want to remind students of the attendance and grading requirements to participate in athletics.  Each grading period, students must pass at 7 out of 8 of their courses they are taking which includes their exploratory courses.
